The Great Petaluma Chili Cook-Off Salsa & Beer Tasting is proud and grateful to celebrate 20 years! Chili Empress Laura Sunday launched this beloved community event in 1997 to benefit children’s programming at Cinnabar Theater. Aided by a cohort of enthusiastic parents, she envisioned a culinary crowd-pleaser that could help enroll more students through scholarships and increase the offerings of shows, classes, and projects.

Both the Chili Cook-Off and Cinnabar’s Young Rep have blossomed together. The Chili Cook-Off has become a must-visit event in the North Bay every spring, offering Chili, Salsa and Beer Tasting and entertainment you can find nowhere else. Teams of individuals and service organizations pull together to compete for trophies and glory, and businesses and restaurants are given a chance to tempt potential customers. It’s fun, it’s yummy, it’s HOT.

Meanwhile, our Young Rep has grown by leaps and bounds. Each season we sell out performances for three big shows; every summer our camps fill up fast and our waitlists grow. Every fundraiser and donation strengthens our ability to get more children onto our stage to explore everything the performing arts can teach them.
